Could someone tell me what paint i could use on Varnish?

I would like to paint on top of my varnish kitchen units.Could someone tell me what paint i could use on Varnish?
Run fine sandpaper over the varnish, then acrylic primer %26amp; undercoat, then oil based undercoat and then top coat.

You will find that wood that was varnished and now painted will chip easy in use.

You might want to give it 2 or 3 acrylic coats first.Could someone tell me what paint i could use on Varnish?
None.. you scrape the varnish off first
use an oil based primer then paint over the top with what ever u want!
Try some flat paint on an area that cannot be seen. Once you've put a couple flat coats on then you should be able to put a finished coat on. Check with a paint websight too.
You need a primer to make the paint adhere to the varnish. I am from the U.S. Here we use BIN or KILZ oil base primers. Sand first apply primer, then apply finish paint. Enamel is a term used to define hardness of paint you need a paint that has durability and sheen. Here we use interior oil base semi gloss or gloss.
You have to use a oil primer. then apply 2 coat water base

enamel paint. a goood priemer even thou it it is oil, ( or kiltz ) will hold the water base paint. good luck
you can buy paint in B%26amp;Q or Focus to specifically paint kitchen cupboards
The surface will have to be properly prepared, otherwise the varnish will 'bleed' through any kind of paint, whatever it says on the tin. First, give the surfaces a light sanding - it isn't necessary to rub all the varnish off. Then, you need to use an aluminium primer, preferably two coats, which will seal in the varnish. Follow up with an oil base undercoat and then your chosen top coat.

I used this method on a varnished wardrobe and it looked good for years.
There's also a product called ';1-2-3'; (manufactured by Zinzer) - this should be available at any decent paint store/Lowes/Home Depot. It is a primer that will cover just about anything (it WILL cover varnish). Apply this (it is quick-drying) and you can paint over this easily. Good luck!
You must use OIL BASE KILZ or the paint will never adhere to the varnish. You will need a gallon of oil based Kilz $ 25.-$30

Wiz roller with a 4 inch FOAM sleeve $3

Gallon of paint thinner $2

One china bristle brush $8-$10

Cover the counters with cardboard or newspaper...or a drop.

Remove all the door knobs. Put on a pair of old gloves .

I usually dump the gallon of paint in a empty 5 gallon bucket with a paint grid on the side . Cut in all of your hinges and then roll out everything else with the foam roller.

Thin coats dry faster than thick coats and you get no runs.

After 2 thin coats...use a sanding sponge to sand lightly over the doors to ensure a smooth finish.

Top coat with Sherwin Williams Super Paint semi gloss or gloss.

Everything I quoted you on you can get from Sherwin Williams. Do it right the first time..go with nothing less and be done with it. Union Painter
