Something has happened to the finish from continuous use and cleaning. What can I do to get rid of the sticky/tackiness of it?Varnish and paint on kitchen table and chairs are sticky/ tacky.?
Before you do anything to refinish you gotta eliminate the problem. In technical terms, clean off the sticky crap. If it's food and drink, take a soap soution and clean then some ammonia in warm water. Wipe with that too, but do NOT mix ammonia and detergent solutions esp. with bleach! You can lightly sand remaining ';stuff'; off and proceed to restain, varnish or paint...You don't need to strip table down to bare wood. Although, it will produce a finer finish.Varnish and paint on kitchen table and chairs are sticky/ tacky.?
REPAINT IT.
