Does anyone know of a paint/varnish suitable for insideand outside a rabbit hutch?

my daughters rabbit hutch is very wet due to the recent bad weather as well as wet inside from the rabbits urine. does anyone know of a paint/farnish that is safe to use inside and outside the hutch to waterproof it?

Pets at Home used to do an animal safe varnish for the out side of hutches - I don't know if they still sell it.

You shouldn't really varnish the inside as the rabbit may chew it. Have you thought about putting a litter tray in there? Rabbits are usually quite easy to litter train in thier hutches as they are quite clean any way. If you get a plastic corner litter tray, place some saw dust inside, then place some of the rabbits faeces and urine in the tray to attract the rabbit to go in this area. It also helps if you place the tray in the part of the hutch the rabbit goes to the toilet in. This should help keep the hutch dry and clean.Does anyone know of a paint/varnish suitable for insideand outside a rabbit hutch?
Well you could put a litter tray in there just like you would for a cat, thats what we did for our bunny.

If it won't use the tray varnish he hutch with a non-toxic varnish.

But put pieces of wood in the hutch so the rabbit will chew on the pieces of wood instead of chewing on the hutch.

Goodluck
Thin white emulsion for the inside . Varnish inside will prevent moisture absorbing ...have the same effect as plastic and will result in a wet hutch. Outside use a shed type wood stain, handy if the colour matches other buildings in the garden. The main way of keeping a hutch dry is to have a good overhang on the roof..mostly to the front with a wired gap twixt hutch and top to allow good airflow.
I wouldn't put any paint or anything on a rabbit hutch. Rabbits chew on things, and I think all paint and varnish and everything is poisonous.
well if you live in the uk then pets at home do a hutch stain thats safe for all animals it costs 4.99 for a big tin and can be used inside and outside and is waterproof,
