Can I use varnish meant for oil colours on acrylic paint?

Acrylic paint on shoes to be precise.I generally use another substance which doesn't look too good on non canvas shoes. These are non canvas. Help! Can I use varnish meant for oil colours on acrylic paint?
There is no need to varnish over acrylic. You could use an acrylic varnish or an acrylic medium for a uniform coating over the paint.

Shoes, actually your feet, need to breathe and the material shoes are made from is typically porous. 100% waterproofed shoes are usually only worn when conditions are very wet. When you seal the material your feet needing air are going to perspire and may even develop a strong odor as they try to cool off.

You definitely should not use the oil varnish over acrylic. Can I use varnish meant for oil colours on acrylic paint?
I would not advise use of oil medium over Acrylics, you could paint some old material with acrylic, then cover with oil varnish and let dry, problem is that oils may melt and coagulate plastic paints, and make a mess, if shoes need covering, possibly use spray acrylics for protection, of simple brush on varnish, acrylics may be ok as is, it is water proof when dry, and extras coatings may only crack more when bending shoe,

..
Use only varnish designed for acrylics. You need to have good adhesion for one and good elasticity for another reason. Especially for shoes.
