How do you paint designs on furniture without brushes? Transparencies with designs underneath clear varnish?

I would like to create furniture with designs on it that look handpainted, but are computer generated and affixed to the furniture. Any ideas? I thought I would try some clear transparencies with computer paintings on them, under clear varnish. Does anyone have ideas?How do you paint designs on furniture without brushes?
